Martha was born in Colombia and she has been living in the United States for over 19 years. She studied Early Education in Cali, her hometown, and worked for many years as a preschool teacher. As a child, she had a very dear uncle who used to tell stories in such a vivid way that made Martha and her cousin María Lucía laugh and cry. Her passion for children’s stories comes from that time. As a teacher, one of the activities she has enjoyed the most is telling stories. She has always believed that children live stories as part of their reality, this is why she has used them as an educational resource to explain concepts or ideas. Martha’s other dear passion is painting. She studied for a year at an art institute in Colombia and now she is self-taught in many different techniques, which inspire the creative approach in her projects. Apart from writing and painting, she works in early intervention with blind and low vision children in Orlando (Florida), where she lives with her husband Phil and two lovely cats, Harley and Niña.
